OWA Proposed By-Law changes

General Bylaws 2.4 - Reword "Kids/Cadets" to "Kids, Cadets".  Bylaw change would also omit "Cadets" in all articles of the Kids By-Laws.  This change would establish the Cadet age group as a separate division.

General Bylaws 2.4, 3.2 and 4.1 - Add "Open Division"

General Bylaws - Add USA Wrestling "Abuse and Harassment Policy" as an addendum to the general bylaws, with the preface that "Club leaders are required to notify the state office of any violations of the policy".

Kids Bylaws 6.2 - Add "with the exception of all OWA sanctioned events have a charge of $1 per entry to go to the OWA for distribution to divisions".

Kids (Cadets), Cultural Exchange and Junior Bylaws - add an article stating that the Cultural Exchange Division be responsible for the sale of merchandise at all OWA State Tournaments.  The C.E. Division would also secure the proceeds from said sales.

Cadet Team Training Camp is now beginning on Sunday, July 13.

Oregon Women's Wrestling will hold its Annual Intensive Training Camp July 14th - July 19th in Portland, Oregon. This camp is mandatory for all Oregon Girls attending the Junior National Championships in Fargo, ND. Wrestlers who place in the top 8 at this event earn "Funded Access to the USA Olympic Training Center" This provides the wrester with opportunities to work out and train in Colorado Springs with the US Women's national team with their room and board paid for by the USA Wrestling.
 
This is a great camp, you will learn great technique and work out with some Nationally ranked wrestlers on both the Junior Division and the Senior Women's Division. This is a definite opportunity to take your wrestling to the next level.
 
We have tried to keep it affordable at $150.00. This includes food & lodging and transportation from the Airport or Train Station. All of Oregon's top Junior's will be in attendance as well as some of Washington's top girls. We have had the Canadian National Junior Team in attendance in past years and are still trying to confirm their participation for this year. Space is limited so please confirm early.

 Silver Level College for Bronze Level Coaches

In July of 2003, WSWA will offer a Silver Level Coaches College to Bronze Coaches of USA Wrestling.  The Silver College is a requirement for coaches looking to achieve Silver Certification.  From noon Saturday, July 12th through noon Thursday, July 17th coaches from across the country will participate in detailed training, learning the latest innovations for coaching the sport of wrestling.   

As the members of the Washington Junior National team peak for the upcoming tournament in Fargo, coaches will be right alongside them as they learn advanced techniques from elite athletes and coaches from across the country.   Coaches will gain insight into elite training and technique.  Also, the coaches will participate in classroom sessions that will focus on mental skills, nutrition, program development, and weight training. 

Join WSWA this summer as USA Wrestling brings an exciting Silver Level College to the Spokane area.  (Eastern Washington University in Cheney) The cost of the course is $400 with room and board or $250 for commuters, $320 with lunch-dinner meal ticket.  Coaches will receive a WSWA Silver College Shirt as a participant.  Register before June 5th and receive a USA Wrestling cap as a reward for early registration.  

*Participate in technique sessions offered by World and Olympic Medalists.

*See the training of high school athletes just before they participate in the National Championships.

*Network with coaches from across the country.

*Deepen your commitment to the sport of wrestling.

*Begin the process of earning Silver Certification.
