Minutes from State kids/cadet meeting August 18,2001.
NATIONAL
New Cadet weight classes -
84, 91, 98, 105, 112, 119, 125, 130, 135, 140, 145, 152, 160, 171, 189, 215, 275.Weigh-ins for nationals. first day two hours prior to competition, second day is two hours prior to Competition and a two pound
allowance. No third day weigh-ins required.All USAW developmental age groups overtime periods should not be less than one minute.
REGIONAL
Western Regional will be in Butte Montana third full week in June 2002.
Weigh-ins for Kids/Cadet at regional goes back to 2000 rule, ONE weigh-in for booth styles the night before the first Competition.
STATE
New programs. Oregon residence only kids/cadet collegiate style wrestling tournament. Kids/cadet triple crown awards. Must wrestle in the Oregon residence only collegiate, Freestyle and Greco-Roman state tournaments.
Club recognition program will be instated beginning with the 2001-2002 season; Gold, Silver, and Bronze.
Card cost will be $35.00 dollars for competitors cards. National increase $4.00, state increase $6.00. Increase will cover the cost of the OWA Posters and OWA divisions.
Proposed new by-laws. Will take effect beginning September 1st of the physical new year.
Article 2 section 2, Change wording to location to coincide with the OWA annual meeting.

ELECTIONS
Cadet Leader will be CO-Cadet Leader Scott Shannon, Elmira and Cleve Thompson Peninsula. Tied Votes the kids council members decided to let the vote stand, and have Co-leaders.
Assistance Kids/cadet Director. Rex Metcalfe, Tillamook.
Council Members. John Scott, South Eugene, Roy Pittman, Peninsula and David McFall, Eagle Point.
Their were 44 clubs that picked up their packets, with 30 clubs represented at the kids meeting and approximately 55 people.
Meeting was called to order at 10:55 and was adjourned at 12:40.

KID’S DIVISION MEETING 3/31/01
John Longfellow called the meeting to order.
First order of business: Cadet State Tournament (rotating South)
CHAS Mat Club suggested tabling the vote until next weeks Cadet State Tournament, but gave a brief proposal and expressed interest in biding on the tournament.
Cottage Grove Mat Club brought a written proposal and expressed interest in bidding on the tournament.
Kids Counsel (voting members present: Roy Pitman, John Scott, Rex Metcalfe, Cleve Thompson, John Longfellow, Doug Henderson) unanimously decided to vote on the tournament selection at this meeting, as scheduled. Cottage Grove was awarded the bid, vote 4-2.
Kids State tournament bid (rotating Metro)
Newberg, USA Cobra (@Parkrose HS) and Woodburn gave presentations and expressed interested in bidding on the tournament. All three clubs had written proposals.
The tournament was awarded to the Cobra/Parkrose group. Vote was 5-1-1. Jeff Hall submitted an absentee vote.
John Longfellow and John Scott gave an update on the Oregon bid for the 2002-2003 Western regional Kids/Cadets tournament, using the Lane County Fairgrounds (Eugene). Consensus of the group was to support the Lane County Fairgrounds as the venue for the bid.
Regional uniforms and equipment package for Western Regionals were discussed. Input was given from the group about what should be included in the equipment package.
Proposal was submitted by Bobo Umemoto that all USAW certified coaches be allowed to vote on Kid’s Division issues and to combine the Cadet and Kid’s state tournaments.
Various discussion for the good of the order occurred.
